1. First, a method is created to define the instrument settings you would like to use as you process each sample.

When your methods are ready, you may identify the samples to be processed individually (as a single run) or as a series of automated runs (which is known as a sequence).

The Run Queue lists all completed, acquiring, and pending runs. From the Run Queue, you may quickly view and manage all submitted runs.

As your runs are being processed, a status window continuously displays the state of your instrument (idle, ready, not connected, running, or pre-run).

Additionally, you can view the instruments current temperatures, pressures, and flows, plus the online signal plots for each sample's chromatographic and spectral data.

For distributed systems, a Failover mode allows a user to continue to run and process samples in the event that the AIC is disconnected from the OpenLab Server. For details on working in Failover mode, see the Agilent OpenLab CDS Acquisition Failover Users Guide.
